Biography
Ronald Freeman was a Los Angeles Black Panther and the brother of Roland Freeman. Interviews published around the 1971 Attica rebellion document Ronald’s confinement in New County Jail on successive charges, including murder, kidnapping and assault. The publication described about twenty months of detention and alleged politically motivated repeated prosecutions; it is a defense account, not a court finding. Exact custody endpoints and each individual case outcome remain unverified.
In a published recollection, Ericka Huggins described the February 1968 Los Angeles street arrests of Ronald and Roland Freeman and their detention at the 77th Street station until supporters obtained bail. Huggins and her husband Jon observed and organized support; the passage does not say they were arrested at that incident. The Black Panther, February 13, 1971, original PDF page 6.
