Biography
Roku Kitajima was a Kohala resident and the wife of Yoshio Kitajima. JCCH records her birth year as 1909. Her own individual record documents December 1942 mainland transfer aboard Lurline, Jerome confinement January 1943-May 1944, Tule Lake confinement May 1944-November 1945 and return to Honolulu aboard Shawnee in December 1945. Her entry into family confinement is distinct from the December 1941 arrest of her husband. Her confinement occurred within US wartime incarceration of people of Japanese ancestry; the archive establishes no individual criminal conviction.
