Biography

Robert “Sharief” Kendrick was identified by The Black Panther as a Black Panther Party member whom Los Angeles police beat and arrested with Greg Franklin on April 27, 1977. The assault-and-battery allegation was separate from the solicitation and inciting-a-riot charges reported after a September 3 arrest. The newspaper characterized the prosecutions as harassment; actual custody intervals and final dispositions remain unverified.

The chronology distinguishes the April 27, 1977 assault-and-battery arrest from a May 12 arrest for obstructing traffic, a June 15 arrest for allegedly lacking a photograph on identification, and a September 3 arrest for solicitation and inciting a riot. The newspaper describes these as police harassment. It does not establish a prison-admission date, release date or completed sentence for these separate incidents.
