Biography
Raymond Soto Dávila is a Puerto Rican independence activist and historian associated with CUCRE and the Liga Socialista Puertorriqueña. He was confined for civil contempt after refusing to comply with a federal grand jury investigation, including months at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York.
Approximate duration is not an exact custody counter
Torres Maldonado's printed page 177 reports almost ten months of civil confinement and September 25, 1983 release. It does not establish an exact admission day. The former 304-day and ten-month counters are removed because they turn an approximate account into false precision. The authorized official federal locator returns two registrations under Raymond Soto-Davila, both with July 17, 2001 custody endpoints. That later endpoint is not evidence of release from this earlier contempt episode and is not substituted for the source-supported 1983 release.
