Biography

Byrd, a 30-year-old Akron father of five, said he was walking to a friend’s home rather than protesting. The complaint alleges he was arrested July 4, 2022 and charged with riot, disorderly conduct and misconduct at an emergency. He was held in Summit County Jail throughout July 4 and 5 until arraignment and release July 6. Charges were dismissed January 5, 2023. The complaint also reports a later probation-violation jailing caused by this arrest, without its dates or duration. These accounts and the misconduct allegations are attributed to the plaintiffs’ June 29, 2023 civil complaint, not judicial findings.
