Q. B. McCain was the president of the Miami painters' union, jailed in 1937 amid the anti-labor drive in Florida.
The April 1937 Labor Defender reports repeated Miami police detentions of painters-local president Q.B.McCain: several days incommunicado, a criminal-assault charge dismissed at preliminary hearing, renewed incommunicado confinement ending on habeas corpus, and rearrest on another morals charge followed by release on $100 bail and a later $30 fine. These are attributed to the magazine. No exact episode dates, total duration or expanded name is established; the fine is not confused with bail or an imprisonment term.
