Biography
Phineas Eastman was from New Raymer, Colorado. Phineas Eastman was convicted at the mass IWW trial in Wichita and sentenced to seven years and six months in prison. He served in Leavenworth Penitentiary from June 23, 1919, to July 18, 1922.
The March 1920 One Big Union Monthly prisoner roster, under the printed name EASTMAN , PHINEAS, reports: Federal . Indicted Wichita , March 14 , 1918 . Conspiracy . Convicted Dec. 1919. 7½ year sentence . Leavenworth Federal prison . This is the contemporary labor organization’s account. The March1922 official report lists Phineas Eastman in List1 of convicted prisoners or parolees. The government entry reports Conspiracy and violating the espionage act, efc. a sentence of December 18, 1919, 7 years 6 months, Leavenworth, and to pay costs and to stand committed until costs are paid.. Imposed terms, projected term-expiration dates, parole eligibility and intervals on bond are different measures; none is entered as a complete actual custody total.
