Biography
Peter Young is an animal rights activist and the first person convicted of Animal Enterprise Terrorism. His charges relate to fur farm raids in Iowa, South Dakota, and Wisconsin in 1997. He was in hiding for seven years before being arrested in San Jose and later serving two years in prison. As a vegan, he wrote extensively of his struggle with hunger and access to food while incarcerated.
After serving his sentence, Young has continued to advocate for animal rights as a vocal supporter of the Animal Liberation Front.
State charges did not begin a second simultaneous jail term
Page6 reports Young already serving his two-year federal sentence when SouthDakota filed charges described as third-degree burglary, intentional damage to property and animal-enterprise trespass concerning the mink-farm actions. It gives no new physical transfer, admission or release date and no completed state sentence. A separate set of charges filed while a person is already imprisoned is not automatically an additional simultaneous imprisonment total.

The Warrior Wind reported that South Dakota charges concerning a mink-farm action were dropped shortly after Young’s February 1, 2007 federal release, on condition that he not enter the state.
The FBI’s 2002–2005 report dates Young’s guilty plea to September 2, 2005, before his already documented November 8 sentencing.
