Biography
Paul X Moody, a Nation of Islam member and Black Student Union leader at Bowling Green State University, was arrested by campus police on April 20, 1976 following an alleged April 18 sexual assault. The Militant reports an October 1 attempted-rape conviction after a trial beginning September 28. It attributes a frame-up allegation to his defense and describes conflicting physical-description and medical evidence. He was held seven hours before being allowed a telephone call; that is a restricted-contact phase, not a complete measured jail total. He was free on bond by the report and planned to seek a new trial. Attorney Sheldon Wittenberg represented him; Gary Kuns was assistant county prosecutor and Gale Williamson the judge.
