Biography

Paul B. Crosbie was a militant veteran jailed June 27, 1934 with twenty-five other workers while demonstrating outside the struck Garside Shoe Factory at 36th Street and 37th Avenue in Astoria, New York. The June 28 Daily Worker explicitly reports their jailing, disorderly-conduct charges and a hearing in the Long Island City Magistrates Court. It supplies no bail release, verdict, term or complete duration. The headline spells Crospie while the body prints Paul B. Crosbie; the body spelling is retained, without identifying him with unrelated Walter Crosby of the 1910s.
