Biography

Pat O’Shay was arrested among ten pickets outside May’s Department Store at 510 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, on Saturday, February 15, 1936. The Daily Worker, February 18, 1936, page 3 says eight defendants were released when the group appeared before Magistrate Charles Solomon at Ninth Magistrates Court, while O’Shay and Carmen were held for further trial. It gives no precise criminal charge, bail, jail-admission date, final verdict or physical release day for these two. The printed given name is not expanded. Page 4 prints Pat O’Shea with Jack Goldberg as defendants scheduled for trial May 12 on assaulting Patrolman Brennan during the May’s strike. The strike context and distinctive Pat surname support the spelling-variant association with the existing O’Shay record. The article does not give the arrest day or prove whether this is the identical February 15 hold, so no separate custody episode or unverified duration is created.
