Biography
Dr. Otto Nathan was an economist and the executor of Albert Einstein's estate, cited for contempt of Congress in 1956 after refusing, on First Amendment grounds, to answer the House Un-American Activities Committee's questions about his beliefs and to surrender his passport.
Nathan was born in Bingen am Rhein, Germany, and came to the United States in the 1930s. The dictionary describes him as an adviser to the Weimar Republic and lists faculty appointments at Princeton, New York University, Howard and Vassar.
