One of the Atmore-Holman Brothers (IFA), sentenced to 50 years in the framed prosecution over the 1974 Atmore-Holman prison rebellion. The Black Panther Vol. 19 no.3,10,11 (1979).
Chairman of the Alabama prison group Inmates For Action (IFA), repeatedly retried on charges arising from a January 1974 Atmore protest against beatings and segregation; The Black Panther Vol. 14 no.9 (1975) reports he sought to move his trial to federal court, arguing the state violated his rights by denying him William Kunstler as counsel.
The June 4, 1975 Birmingham rally played a twenty-minute recorded message from Gamba Mani, identified in this report as Oscar Johnson, then chairman of Inmates for Action and imprisoned with the Atmore-Holman defendants. This explicitly links the alias and surname and corroborates current prison custody; it supplies no new admission or release date.
