Biography
Orlando González Claudio was arrested on August 30, 1985 in the Macheteros prosecution arising from the Wells Fargo robbery. The appellate court documents detention beginning that day and, in November 1986, directed that reasonable bail conditions be set. Contemporary accounts describe subsequent release on bail, separate from his later sentence. On May 13, 1992, Judge T. F. Gilroy Daly imposed five years in prison after a guilty plea, with five years of probation afterward. Carmelo Ruiz's 2016 account reports prison release in 1994 and completion of probation in 2002; exact discharge and sentence-era admission dates remain unverified. The official federal locator confirms register 03173-069, but lists the release date as unknown. No uninterrupted 1985–1999 custody or 1999 clemency release is asserted.
Separate pretrial detention and later sentence
The original 1986 appellate opinion verifies August 30, 1985 arrest and detention, and distinguishes the later bail order from actual freedom.
