Biography
Nathan L. Welch was the editor of the Michigan Socialist, from Detroit, Michigan. Nathan L. Welch served eighteen months of a two-year prison sentence at Leavenworth Penitentiary for activities undertaken while working as an editor.
The Detroit report identifies NathanWelch as MichiganSocialist editor and explicitly reports his arrest with the managing board in the conspiracy-to-defeat-the-draft case. The initial May27arrest date is not individually assigned to Welch; the June12hearing and June14postponement are procedural dates, not custody admission or discharge.
