Biography

The newspaper reports that Mangazda was thrown through glass doors by a plainclothes officer after a racist refusal of service during a bus stop in Harrington, Delaware, suffering cuts and a sprained ankle. He was traveling with ZANU representative Tapson A. Mawere. The June 8, 1975 Baltimore dispatch dates the arrests to yesterday, June 7. It explicitly says both men were taken to Smyrna prison before being bailed. The exact prison admission and bail dates and actual custody duration are unknown. A June 13 Dover trial was scheduled, not a reported completed outcome. The allegations of racist treatment are attributed to the newspaper.
