Biography

Milton Welch was a labor activist arrested at an unemployed workers meeting in Yonkers, New York, on February 17, 1931. He remained held under $250 bail when his hearing was postponed the next day; a contemporary report dated February 20 described him as still being held.

Page 1’s Yonkers bonus and hunger-march report lists Milton Welch among speakers but also says the meeting demanded release of Milton Welch and William Walters. Because the same report presents both statements, it is not used as unambiguous proof of Welch’s physical release or continued custody. The existing February arrest is preserved.
