Biography
Milton Parish, also reported as Milton Parrish, was a writer jailed for refusing grand-jury testimony in the New York 8+ investigation. In granting his release, the court concluded that further confinement would reinforce rather than overcome his solidarity with people associated with the Sunrise Collective.
Distinct custody episodes
The Second Circuit's full opinion, 782 F.2d 325, bridges Parish/Parrish and records October 18, 1984 brief detention and same-morning release, followed by December 20 civil commitment and July 24, 1985 discharge. These were not continuous custody. The January 21, 1986 appellate decision was not a custody start. No reliably identified reusable portrait has been established.
