Mike Vargo was a coal striker prosecuted in Washington County, Pennsylvania, during the 1931 coal strike. Convicted of unlawful assembly, inciting to riot, rioting, assault and battery, he received a six-month sentence in the Allegheny County Workhouse at Blawnox. He was confined there in November 1931. The International Labor Defense organized appeals and relief for the imprisoned strikers.
