Biography
Mike Miskich was a self-identified class-war prisoner writing to the ILD from San Quentin Prison, California in 1930.
Western Worker, July 15, 1932, page 1: The notice prints his name as Mike Miskitch and reports his death at the San Francisco Marine Hospital on June 12, 1932. It says he had been hospitalized since an International Labor Defense campaign secured his release from San Quentin in 1931, and links his life sentence to the 1925 San Pedro fishermen’s strike. It identifies him as a Communist Party member. The notice does not supply an exact prison discharge day or justify counting subsequent hospitalization as imprisonment. Mike Miskich’s signed San Quentin letter, published in November 1930, states that he spoke Spanish, sought Spanish-language labor literature for fellow Mexican prisoners and had learned from Frank Spector that the International Labor Defense was taking steps in his case. Language and organizing activity are reported directly by Miskich; no nationality, ethnic identity, offense or custody endpoints are inferred.
