Biography

Mike Burich was confined in the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh when the International Labor Defense book committee printed his correspondence in the December 31, 1932 Daily Worker. The name Burich is visible in the original; the OCR reading Bunch is incorrect. His jail letter documents actual confinement and participation in the prisoners’ reading correspondence. The report supplies no charge, conviction, admission, release or measured duration, and he is not conflated with the unrelated 1968 Presidio prisoner Richard Bunch.
