Biography

Michael Pehle had opposed the Palo Verde nuclear power plant in 1979 and refused an imposed fine. On February 7, 1984 he was arrested on the outstanding nonpayment warrant while passing through Flagstaff. The contemporary report individually confirms two nights actually spent in jail before bond release, establishing more than an overnight-only stay. It does not print the physical discharge calendar day. Two nights are preserved in the source narrative, not silently converted into an exact 48 hours or two elapsed-day counter; the 1979 protest is not the 1984 jail admission.
