Biography

May Feldman was a striking dressmaker held on an assault accusation during the New York dress strike in March 1931. The March 12 Daily Worker reports that she was held under $2,500 bail at the previous day’s hearing. She was held for the grand jury; the newspaper disputes the accusation that she assaulted armed men. Setting bail is not proof that it was posted. The report supplies no exact arrest or physical release day, conviction or total custody. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1931/v08-n062-NY-mar-12-1931-DW-LOC.pdf#page=1
