Biography
Matthew E. Madden was arrested during protests in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 1, 2020, after police said he threw water bottles at officers and fled. A search recovered marijuana, a loaded .40-caliber pistol and an extended magazine. He entered a federal pretrial-diversion agreement, but prosecutors resumed the case after finding that he violated the agreement and absconded. Following a bench trial, he was convicted of possessing a firearm as an unlawful user of a controlled substance. The Eighth Circuit affirmed the conviction on April 25, 2025. Bureau of Prisons records list him as register number 34819-045 and in federal custody, with no projected release date published.
