Biography
Marcus Singer was a Cornell University zoologist prosecuted for refusing to name former associates before the House Un-American Activities Committee. In 1956 he was fined $100 and given a suspended three-month jail sentence. The full U.S. Court of Appeals vacated the judgment on June 28, 1957 after the Supreme Court’s Watkins decision. Singer did not serve the suspended jail term.
