Biography

M. Theos was arrested in New York while distributing shop papers and leaflets calling for the August 1, 1930 anti-war demonstration to workers at the Hearst Building. The Daily Worker of August 1, page 2, names Cohen and M. Theos and says police acted at the instigation of the Hearst management. Both were brought to night court, where police had difficulty placing charges and the defendants were dismissed. The article supplies no arrest or discharge calendar day and no full expansion of the printed initials. Dismissal at court does not establish a completed jail-service duration.
