Biography
Ludwig Sardruk was a Russian noncitizen from Brooklyn recorded in the Swarthmore/Yoder conscientious-objector research database as a military prisoner sentenced to twenty years. Its notes record an interview on January 5, 1919 concerning the 64th Article of War and expressly question whether he was a conscientious objector. Draft registration in June 1917 is not evidence of prison admission. Exact arrest, admission and release dates remain unresolved.
1920s custody review: The Swarthmore/Yoder entry identifies 1917 as draft year and June 5 as draft registration, not prison admission. The unsupported 1917 admission is removed. The January 5, 1919 disciplinary-barracks interview confirms custody by that date, but not first admission. The compiler explicitly questions conscientious-objector status and gives no release date; the inherited 1920 release remains unverified. Neither modern namesakes nor unlabeled images are accepted as a portrait.
