Biography
Louis Marius Christensen was a Danish immigrant and cabinetmaker who lived near Sayle. He was convicted of sedition for criticizing the war, Liberty Bonds and military conscription. He boarded with William and Janet Smith, who were also imprisoned under Montana’s sedition law. Christensen was released from Deer Lodge on November 16, 1919.
The original Montana State Prison intake form lists an age of 33, birth in Denmark, and occupation as carpenter. It records actual receipt at Deer Lodge on 1918-10-20 and sentencing on 1918-10-19 in the state sedition case. The admission is distinguished from an earlier arrest, and the printed sentence is distinguished from actual service; no physical discharge is supplied. It includes named frontal and profile photographs. Source: https://clcowgill.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/a-m.pdf#page=8
