Biography

Lou Miller was a member of Omaha Drivers Local 554 prosecuted with Jack Maloney and five other union organizers after the 1938 Sioux City drivers strike. The Socialist Appeal of August 24, 1940 reports that he had actually entered Leavenworth federal prison the preceding week after the Eighth Circuit denied their appeal. Its reproduced letter from Miller to Farrell Dobbs thanks supporters and asserts his continued commitment to trade-union organization. The newspaper calls the truck-damage prosecution an FBI frame-up; that characterization is attributed to the contemporary labor newspaper. No precise admission day, prison term or physical discharge is established. Printed Lou is not expanded speculatively. Source: https://www.themilitant.com/1940/0434/SA0434.pdf#page=2
