Biography
Lona Cohen was an American Communist and Soviet intelligence courier. As the Rosenberg investigation reached the network in 1950, she and her husband Morris left New York through Mexico and eventually reached the Soviet bloc. Under the identities Helen and Peter Kroger, the Cohens operated an illegal radio and document relay for a Soviet intelligence network in Britain. British authorities arrested them in January 1961, and a court sentenced each to twenty years under the Official Secrets Act. They were released in an October 1969 spy exchange and sent to the Soviet Union, where Lona Cohen remained until her death.
