Biography
Lintonia Sheppard was responsible for health care for more than one hundred children at the Black Panther Party’s Intercommunal Youth Institute in Oakland, working with the East Oakland Health Alliance and Children’s Hospital. Police arrested her during the predawn April 16, 1974 raids on Black Panther Party offices and members’ homes. The Black Panther (April 27, 1974, pp. 3 and 16) identifies her among the fourteen people arrested and reports that all fourteen were released after thirty hours when the prosecutor cited insufficient evidence.
