Biography

Page 2’s August 24 Orlando dispatch names L. E. Bland and wife Lillian Bland as arrested and sent to the City Stockade that week during the anti-Communist campaign. The enlarged scan confirms L. E., correcting OCR E. R. Police reportedly mistook the husband for Paul Bland and threatened Klan delivery had he been Paul. Workers suspected torture and engaged attorney Theodore Woodward to seek habeas corpus. Those concerns and proposed relief are attributed, not established results.
