Biography

Kyle Shaw, age 19, bombed a Starbucks on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in 2009 and was planning a second bombing when arrested. No one was injured. Sentenced to 42 months federal prison.

Custody chronology review October 13, 2026: Contemporary reporting of the police announcement describes Shaw's July 2009 arrest. The former May 28, 2009 prison-entry field predates that arrest and has no support in this report; it and the resulting exact duration are removed. Arrest is not automatically substituted for prison admission. The existing release date is unchanged, pending independent verification of its source.

A Spring 2011 update explicitly reports Shaw remanded at sentencing on November 16, 2010. This proves custody that day but does not establish whether it began earlier; the previously uncertain initial admission remains unresolved.
