Biography

Kolton Krottinger, a U.S. Navy veteran from Granbury, Texas, was arrested on November 5, 2025 on a third-degree felony charge of online impersonation after posting what his lawyer called a satirical political meme on Facebook that appeared to show a local activist endorsing a school-board candidate. A special prosecutor formally declined the charge on December 22, 2025.

In a civil complaint filed January 10, 2026, Krottinger alleged retaliation and unlawful arrest arising from a satirical political meme. The complaint records arrest and Hood County jail booking on November 5, 2025 and a $10,000 bond. It distinguishes his earlier physical release from the December 5 discharge of the complaint and bond conditions and the December 22 decision not to prosecute. Neither December date establishes his jail discharge or a measured custody duration. These civil allegations are not findings against the officials he sued.
