Biography
Keyehtah is individually identified as an enlisted Apache scout in General Stanley’s October 11, 1886 account of the people under his charge at San Antonio. Although his character was described as good and his wife was already in Florida, the subsequent orders directed that both scouts be discharged from military service and remain with their tribe, and that they be sent under guard with the women and children to Fort Marion. This is documented compulsory military control after scouting service, rather than a prisoner entry based only on having acted as a scout.

The October 11 report individually names the two scouts with the people held at San Antonio; October 20 and October 22 orders continue their controlled disposition and guarded transfer to Fort Marion. Exact admission, individual arrival at Fort Marion, final release and custody duration are not established.
