Biography
Kenneth Wayne Hayes, an Austin, Texas SOA Watch council member, was arrested during the November 2009 Fort Benning vigil for crossing onto the military base in a nonviolent protest against the School of the Americas. Judge G. Mallon Faircloth sentenced him on January 25, 2010 to six months in federal prison for entry onto a federal reservation. SOA Watch Austin and the official Bureau of Prisons locator confirm his September 13, 2010 release from federal custody. This case is not a military desertion or missing-movement prosecution.
Identity and chronology verified October 12, 2026: The original SOA Watch Austin chronology explicitly identifies Kenneth Wayne Hayes among the 2009 SOA Four and reports his September 13, 2010 release. The official BOP locator independently returns Kenneth Wayne Hayes, register 94045-020, age 77, not in BOP custody as of September 13, 2010. The January 26, 2010 publication of SOA Watch's press release documents the completed January 25 sentence. The unsupported servicemember/desertion characterization was replaced with the documented federal-reservation protest case. Arrest is stored at November 2009 month precision, not the legacy March prison-start date. The exact surrender day remains under review; the 184-day total was cleared.
