Biography
Kade Wilde Byrand joined a June 2025 demonstration in downtown Los Angeles against federal immigration raids. The federal complaint accused him of pushing a Bureau of Prisons officer outside the Metropolitan Detention Center; it also cited a social-media post in which he encouraged people to attend the protest. Byrand pleaded guilty on September 17, 2025. On January 30, 2026, the court sentenced him to time served—four days in custody—and a $1,000 fine.

The Central District of California’s calendar for January 30, 2026 lists United States v. Kade Byrand, CR 25-00539-AB, for sentencing before Judge André Birotte Jr., with Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Gray Purcell and retained defense attorney Mark Werksman. It marks Byrand as on bond. This adds the named court participants at the scheduled hearing stage; neither a calendar listing nor bond status establishes that a sentence was imposed or dates for an earlier jail stay. The separately documented plea, sentence and four-day custody account remain unchanged.
