Biography

Juanita McKamey was an Industrial Workers of the World activist in the San Diego free speech fight. Police arrested her on February 8, 1912, for participating in the campaign against the street-speaking restriction. She spent the night in the city jail and was released on bail the next morning. She later faced juvenile detention and probation proceedings. Historian Steve Rossignol records her release from those proceedings and dismissal of her case on August 22, 1912. That later detention was separate from her initial overnight imprisonment.
