Biography

Juan Álamo Díaz was a Puerto Rican independence supporter imprisoned at Leavenworth. Executive Order 7731 identifies him in the 1937 federal prosecution of Julio Pinto Gandía and others. The 1939 solidarity committee roster confirms his actual imprisonment.

The Cuban committee’s April 12, 1939 manifesto individually lists him as actually confined at Leavenworth. This is contemporary prison-location evidence, not an admission date, a completed sentence or a new arrest. The pamphlet was published in December 1939 and reprints documents of several different dates.
