Biography

Joseph Highkin was arrested on the rent-strike picket line at 128 East 111th Street in New York after helping prevent the landlord from manhandling an eight-year-old carrying a strike sign. The August 9, 1933 Daily Worker names both defendants and says they were due to stand trial that morning in the East 121st Street Court. The report says they were arrested without a charge; it gives no completed outcome or exact physical arrest or discharge day.
