Biography

Joseph Harris was arrested at Lafayette Square in Buffalo on October 25, 1930 while trying to announce the meeting in a speech as a Trade Union Unity League organizer. The Daily Worker of October 28, page 2, in a dispatch dated October 27, names this defendant during its account of police efforts to prevent publicity for Foster’s appearance. The source does not state an individual statutory charge, conviction, sentence or discharge day. Its separate disorderly-conduct charge list concerns the subsequent headquarters raid and is not automatically assigned to the Lafayette Square defendants.
