Biography

Jorge Peter Cornell, known as King J and King Jay, led the Greensboro chapter of the Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation and publicly advocated peace between street groups while criticizing local gang-policing practices. A jury convicted him on November 21, 2012 of racketeering conspiracy, assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering and a firearm offense. Judge James A. Beaty denied his new-trial motion on May 1, 2013. Cornell later received a 336-month federal sentence in August 2013.
