Biography
John Wade is a U.S. activist prosecuted in the federal cases brought after the 2020 George Floyd uprising. Activist support networks covering protest prosecutions listed him alongside defendants such as Matthew White and Montez Lee as facing federal charges arising from the demonstrations that followed the police murder of George Floyd, and he is identified in those reports by prisoner number 14762509. Groups including Uprising Support and anti-repression collectives have circulated appeals for legal support and fundraising on his behalf.
He was released from his federal sentence in June 2024. He was rearrested in October 2024 and was still listed in custody in spring 2026. The exact days of the release and the rearrest are not established, so both are recorded to the month only.
Sentencing date for the original 2020 federal case
The January–March 2023 Turning the Tide roster identifies John B. Wade by register number 14762-509 and reports that he was sentenced on February 28, 2022 to a five-year mandatory minimum including time served. This supplies the missing sentencing date for his original November 2020 federal prosecution, not a new prison-admission date. The roster’s January 2025 release was explicitly projected; it does not replace his later documented actual June 2024 release. The separate October 2024 rearrest and its unresolved endpoint remain unchanged. The roster gives his birthday as November 11 without a birth year; no complete birth date has been invented by combining that with an uncertain stored birth-year estimate.
