Biography
John Vierra remained jailed after the July 1970 New Bedford Panther raid.
Before his July 1970 arrest, John “Johnny” Vierra had been imprisoned at Walpole and Norfolk under a six-year sentence and was released on parole. He joined the Black Panther Party and organized the New Bedford NCCF. The September 26, 1970 account says his parole was revoked after the July 31 raid and he was returned to Norfolk, where he resisted forced low-paid prison work and was placed in solitary confinement.
