Biography
John Juhn was a Korean independence activist, printer, editor, and co-owner of the Los Angeles newspaper Korean Independence. Immigration authorities arrested him in May 1955 and ordered him deported to South Korea on the claim that he had entered the United States without inspection in 1920. Supporters won a stay because of the danger posed by the Syngman Rhee government. Juhn and his wife Anna Song later left for North Korea through Czechoslovakia, but North Korean authorities denied them entry. The reviewed record does not establish exact custody endpoints after his arrest.
