Biography

Job Garcia is a photographer and doctoral candidate at Claremont Graduate University. Federal agents arrested him on June 19, 2025, while he recorded an immigration raid at a Hollywood Home Depot and warned people about their rights. He was taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center and released the following day without charges. His lawyers at MALDEF subsequently submitted an administrative claim alleging unlawful detention and retaliation for recording the agents.

Custody record

MALDEF’s original account describes twenty-five hours in custody, ending June 20, 2025. This is longer than twenty-four hours but does not justify rounding the term to two whole days.
