Biography

Jim Higgs was an anti-nuclear protester who took part in the Choose Life witness at Livermore Laboratory. On December 21, 1982, he and six other men were arrested for obstructing traffic after trying to enter the main gate and then blocking its roadway. The March 9, 1983 Nuclear Resister individually identifies Higgs and Sam Tyson as receiving ten-day sentences and actually serving seven days at Santa Rita County Jail. The exact subsequent sentence-intake and physical release dates are not printed, and the ten-day nominal term is distinct from the seven days served.
