Biography

Chuck Whatford was a member of the Catholic Worker Farm in Sheepranch, California. On December 28, 1982, he was among seven people arrested after entering Livermore Laboratory through its south gate to kneel and pray during the Choose Life witness. They carried quilted banners bearing children’s names. The March 9, 1983 Nuclear Resister explicitly reports that Whatford and Thea Baker-Flagg each served thirty days for trespass. On the separate obstruction charge, both pleaded not guilty. The exact later prison admission and physical discharge dates are not provided.
