Biography

Jerry White was a young worker arrested during a police raid of the Furniture Workers Industrial Union headquarters at 818 Broadway, New York. The Daily Worker of August 31, 1933, page 2, says five detectives and a uniformed officer raided the office during the strike, claiming to seek weapons, and arrested White for having dangerous weapons. It quotes a detective threatening an additional unspecified Bronx accusation. The report describes the raid as an NRA-directed attempt to break the strike. It establishes White's arrest but gives no exact arrest day, disposition, sentence or release. The undated article is not treated as proof of an August 30 arrest.
