Biography
Janine Bertram was a member of the George Jackson Brigade and was arrested with John Sherman and Therese Coupez on March 21, 1978. Original FBI prosecution records name her Janine Darcy Bertram. The matching official federal inmate record, register 00386-181, records the end of BOP custody on July 20, 1982, replacing the previously uncorroborated year-only 1983 endpoint. She later organized for disability rights and is also known as Janine Bertram Kemp. Federal release does not establish the end of all supervision or possible custody under another authority.

The original Road to Freedom Tour post supplies this intact group photograph with a caption identifying Tom Olin, Dave Fulton and Janine Bertram (Kemp), beside the tour bus in New Mexico in October 2015. No individual is cropped out or assigned by facial resemblance, and no photographer credit absent from this particular caption is invented. The Northwest Film Forum's February 18, 2018 event biography independently identifies George Jackson Brigade member Janine Bertram as a former federal prisoner and later disability-rights organizer. The FBI's original George Jackson Brigade Part 04, PDF page 27, names JANINE DARCY BERTRAM alongside John William Sherman and Therese Ann Coupez in the 1978 prosecution. The ordinary official federal locator returns the same full name, register 00386-181, and Not in BOP Custody as of July 20, 1982. This replaces the uncorroborated year-only 1983 endpoint. It is the end of federal custody, not a claim that all supervision or another authority's custody ended. No sentence length is back-calculated from these dates, and the former approximate six-year assertion is withdrawn.
